Ryan's previous experience in radio and television elevated his presence in my classes. During studio production, I could rely on Ryan to help the less experienced students learn the equipment, in particular the audio board and microphones. In addition, Ryan's storytelling skills were on full display during our multimedia reporting class. While he certainly has a passion for sports, his storytelling, writing, and technical skills have helped him on a variety of assignments and storytelling missions. Ryan has a bright future in media and journalism.
Ryan is a hard working young man. He has been with us at ESPN Blacksburg for almost 2 years now. In that time he has done several shows with us and also High School Sports. He's helped us with Soccer, Football, and Basketball. He has also been an very important part of our Hokies Pregame show. Ryan would be an amazing addition to any staff. I wish I had an open paid position I'd hire him immediately.
Ryan is a the definition of reliable. I have had the pleasure of having him as an employee for over a year now and he has been my right hand man and there when I needed him every minute of it. No matter what strange request I asked for, he fulfilled it. No matter what time something needed to be done, he had it done with plenty of time to spare. Game day or not, Ryan is one who goes above and beyond in his job, doing projects and extra creative enhancements for our production. He was the one employee who not only did his work, but helped to train others and even teach us a thing or two! From helping to install and run a brand new Daktronics system this past season, to creating daily videos for our pre-game show, to coming in hours before a game to get the entire production script set in the system, Ryan has done it all for the Salem Sox. He even balanced working almost all 70 home games (plus extra events and hours) with us and an internship last summer. Any organization is lucky to have Ryan’s creativity, productivity and dedication on their staff.

Ryan has been a go getter from the moment he and I met. There is nothing this guy will not do and does things in a very professional manner. He is a fast learner and someone with very good judgement.
